The B3349 has now been ruined with arbitrary 50mph speed limits and solid white lines even in places where there are perfectly reasonable and safe overtaking opportunities.
It might still be slightly enjoyable if you can avoid getting stuck behind traffic, but I'd recommend finding another road now :-(
I did this ride at midday on Monday and there was a bit of traffic around. This is a really nice ride with twisty bits and straights. Nice reverse curves and its wide enough too. If you are stuck behind traffic a passing point will come up soon. BEWARE this is agricultural country so there are tractors and stuff around.
This is really enjoyable.
This B road was part of my commute (Portsmouth to Hook) years ago when I lived in the UK, so keep in mind that the review is written by someone with a slightly selective and nostalgic memory... I look back at this as the best part of the day, enjoying a rather quick road with enjoyable corners, little traffic and good scenery. I certainly preferred it to being stuck on the M3!!
WilhelmVery nice B road with some good corners. Can be a bit frustrating if you get stuck behind traffic in parts, and also links up to the A32 run to the coast or the A339 back up to Basingstoke which are likewise both very nice runs.
NetballmanFast B road with some good technical corners and some nice views. Alton is good for pub lunches and a starting point for other routes. This route is short but shoud be linked to the route below. See route A339 Alton to Basingstoke for another great twisty blast.
