I've had to add a new entry for this to update. When I came across this road years ago it was brilliant. Great surface, great bends and thoroughly enjoyed. Now it has changed significantly: - Speed limit has been reduced from 100kph to 80kph - Road surface has deteriorated significantly without repairs. Significant potholes and undulations that could cause potential loss of control of motorcycle if hit an unprepared. (Most likely the reason for the speed limit drop as unfortunately the Victorian Government has decided to reduce speed limits as opposed to maintaining roads to reduce costs). - Highway Patrol now regularly visit the area as well. In the past this road was a must include on my trip to the area. Now I have no desire to do it again. It's unlikely speed limits will revert even if the road surface is repaired, leaving this to be a road that you either risk losing your license on, or do at a pace that is suitable for cars, but not bikes.
A very enjoyable road. Not as much traffic as the Great ocean road, and one easily missed. Higher speed sweepers when compared to the GOR with the occasional sharp turn for variety. As mentioned - better in warmer months when no moss is on the roads. One of my favorite roads in this area.
Windy road through forest surroundings. Best ridden in summer as moss grows on the road in winter.
