A really enjoyable fast road with good surface in a very scenic area. I enjoyed riding it a lot but there were a couple of occassions where tourist car drivers almost caused me a mischief, also at the north end I saw a police camera filming (albeit front mounted photos). Excellent road in any case.

Rode this road 3 times and every time it rained. Good when wet - much better dry.

Rode this last weekend, Friday 25th September 2009 late in the evening on my way to Ulm. Only wished id got there earlier as low sun spoiled the fun.
What a brilliant road!! But be careful as it can bite, as one rider found out. Hopefully he was ok.

I first found the route in 2006 after visiting a BMW dealership in Stuttgart. Whilst my friends bike was being repaired one the locals joined us & detailed a few routes for us to try including the 462. I returned again in 2008 and it was just as good as I remembered. Nice roads, good visibility & scenery. Found all of the locals very friendly & most spoke English which was a help.

Ive done this route a couple of times. Its pretty nice. Depends on when you hit it. Seen a cop up there only once. Myself, Ive hit this route from both the north and south. I prefer coming from the north and when the route ends continue on B28 toward Strasbourg. That portion of the 28 is very nice.

This is one hell of a fast road along the spine of the Black Forest. 100mph+ sweepers with open site lines along the top, tightening into a miriad of bends as you drop down to Baden Baden. Absolutely one of the 'must do' roads.

Did this route in May this year on our way to the Mosel and the weather can be iffy but it was nice when we were there. It's very involved and whilst the scenery is stunning if you're going at a pace you wont see it. Going along the spine of the Black Forrest is sweepy bend central. 5th & 6th gear is the order of the day which is a welcome relief to your gearbox after mile...sorry Kilometer after kilometer of 1st, 2nd and an occasional 3rd gear. You will not regret doing this road so pencil it in for next year. The German people are a very welcoming bunch to boot.

This is a fast winding route that takes you through the heart of the Black forest. Voted one of the best routes by The Ducati Sporting Club of UK the B500 is a fast, wide road with good visibility and beautiful scenery. For the less discerning amongst you, there are a number of other narrower "B" roads leading off the route that are packed with twists and turns plus even more stunning scenery. Starting from Freudenstadt head for Strasbourg on the B28. About 1 Km out of the town there is a sharp right hander and then it's throttle open all the way to the top. About 1.5Km over the ridge at the top of the Kniebis Mountain there is a Right turn you need to take, direction Baden Baden. Straight on if you want to go to Strasbourg. You are now on the B500. Open the throttle full and hang on (if your that way inclined). There is one very sharp corner before the bridge (you will see the wall of the bridge) but apart from that the road is very wide and the corners are long and sweeping. Once you have reached the Hotel at the highest point of the route (you will know your there, lots of cars) take a break and enjoy the view. The second part of the route is slightly narrower and the curves are a little sharper, beware!!! You are also going downhill so braking needs to be harder. If the police are going to be anywhere then this is it. The last 5 Km's of the route, before you hit the small town of Lichtental, the curves can be quiet tight. After the town follow the signs to Baden Baden. Once through the tunnel follow the signs too "Stadtmitte" or "Centrum". You are now in Baden Baden On the whole of the route there are some very good restaurants and a number of biker friendly hotels. Once in Baden Baden take the time to do some sight-seeing. The Spa town is famous for it Casino, Theatre and good food. Enjoy the ride it's well worth the doing
