Beautiful coastal ride! The road between Newry and Carlingford squeezes betwixt sea and mountain and then the country widens out as the road sweeps around towards Dundalk. Carlingford village has nestled on the shores of the eponymous sea lough since Norman times. The narrow streets peppered with the ruins of castles (yes, plural - there are several in a small space!) are delightful to wander - never failing to delight (even ´bikers!). Consider a stopover - lovely restaurants and interesting pubs, often with live folk music. Greenore owes its origins to the railway companies, built as a railhead for the service connecting with passenger ferries bound for Holyhead in Wales. This place - with its terraced, brick streets - looks like a tiny piece of Liverpool transposed to County Louth!
