One of my regular blats. A couple of nice 2nd gear corners into Cottered, then 2km of wide open fast flowing, then the fun bit after the 90 degree left to Baldock. Get your timing right between tin tops and there’s perhaps 6km of sinewy tarmac in generally good nick (watch for farmers mud after rains though, like everywhere), second and third gear bends with the engine singing. Hit the roundabout at the entrance to Baldock, 180 and repeat! Plenty of bikes looking to scrub chicken strips here.
Sunday 18 Oct practically one motorcycle cop to each rider passing through Cotteral - the council must have some clout
Short but a good taste of twisties.
Awesome road one of the best. Watch out for the wildlife including deer!
Great road with good surface. Some of the tight corners have that Shell super grip Tarmac. Probably an indication of previous spills; you could easily get caught out. Good point about the wildlife. I managed to headbutt a pheasant on one trip! I had to turn back and put it out of its misery and leave it for Mr Fox. I tried offering it to a bloke that stopped to read his map, but he said he wouldnt know what to do with it...
Was taken here by my instructor when I did my advanced riding course at the beginning of the year. A great stretch of road with superb corners, the section from Baldock to Cotteridge is my favourite with massive open corners and a lovely surface. The Cotteridge to Buntingford section is not as well surfaced but again has lots of lovely corners. Shame the whole thing only last about 7 miles Things to look out for are farm traffic (especially tractors laden with fertilizer!), suicidal local wildlife and Police patrols. Keep your eyes open and have fun!
Great road, with some serious corners, but watch out I have seen the Old Bill about.
Only a beginner and did it on an enduro bike not a sports bike, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Took it easy and enjoyed the ride. A great alternative to the A505 if heading to Cambridge
Waited a while to try this road & was very impressed...Really enjoyed what was on offer. The usual traffic & hazards but technically you need to be on top of your game. Keep your vision up & youll thoroughly enjoy the route..Highly recommended. Cheers to Dave L for taking the lead & showing me how it should be done...will definitely be back. Next time with my 916 !!
Used to drive this road daily for about two years and only ever managed to do it a couple of times on a bike, but....Wow! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Some proper tight corners but at teh same time a couple of long sweepers! Not for the faint hearted!
Drove this the other week; been itching to return on two wheels. Tried it for the first time today, and it was the badger's nadgers. Superb fast sections blend with tight, challenging corners for a brilliant run. Exceptionally quick; only trouble is knob-heads in cars wanting to race you. Oh, and it doesn't last for long enough, either.
A good road with a wide variety of corners and plenty of undulations. It does get busy and is also a bus route, so watch out for diesel spills. Get it on a good day and go back and forth with a big grin. There are often Subaru Imprezza (and other boy racer types) drivers to have fun with, though don't get sucked in, some of them know the road very well.
this road is very good fun with some fast stuff and some slow stuff, but it gets very busy and is often regularly policed in the summer, mainly north of Cottered.
Quite a nice fast stretch with some open corners. There can be some farm traffic here periodically and thus mud on road.
