I agree with others. Much better ride from Newbury to Wantage as the ride and pace really builds. I often do a there and back again down this route. Nice short blast where (if you open the throttle) you have to work the whole route. No stretches where you get switch off if you’re making good progress.
I love this route. Combine with the A338 from Wantage towards Hungerford, and the B4000 from from the A338 back into Newbury for a triangle of fun: the Wantage TT!
This route is best ridden the other way, from Newbury to Wantage. It builds from town, through villages to open countryside with the climax over the Ridgeway through some great corners connected by long straights, all with amazing visibility.
Thie route goes over the Ridgeway and is pretty fine, if a little short.
Nice hill climb up from Wantage over the Ridgway with a couple of open, uphill bends. Thereafter a good mix of straights, bends and scenary
