Fish Hill is legendary. Watch out for the twisted camber change near the top.

Lovely road, but take care on the Fish .... I live locally ... And sadly the Air ambulance pays regular visits to it in the summer months for bikers :( Enjoy but be safe !

I was out on the old BM last sunday - did the Fish Hill bit of this route (upwards from Broadway towards Moreton-in-Marsh) some poor sod on what looked like a VFR had run wide on the last LH bend and had embedded his bike in the front of a car. Did not look survivable. BE WARNED - Fish Hill has got some nice sweeping bends BUT THEY ARE DECEPTIVE, THEY TIGHTEN UP QUICKLY AND IT IS VERY EASY TO OVERCOOK THEM!!!

Looked like the usual story of running wide, panic braking with taget fixation and sitting the bike up straight into the front of the oncoming car.

Also, the trees along both sides of the road from the top of Fish Hill to the Troopers Lodge Garage are there for a reason - to hide lurking deer who want to play tag with you! (Don ask how I know this....)

Nuff said - just keep your eyes open and yourselves safe.

From A46/A44 island its a good drag up to FISH HILL, but keep an eye on your speed, although its 2 lanes up, the corners come quick and you can get caught out if you think youll glide round them. 160 degrees is tight so get your gears right. Throttle it all the ay to the top and youll have a smile on your face, be cocky and your face will be in the verge, probably against a tree. Seep to the top and carry on through the forests, after 2 mile or so theres a great cafe in a layby on the right. Refuel then try FISH HILL down. Whole new challenge- single lane, don even think of crossing the double whites- consequences not worth it, just tootle don, check your lines then around the island, back up and try it again. Run to Oxford don the A44 is a nice ride ith plenty of long seeping corners and lovely Cotsold villages to slow down for.
Had a better ride than expected and back in Brum for lunch. Try it

On the other hand you could imagine this:
You fill up at Evesham ready to take on the mighty Fish Hill. Setting out on the A44 you cross the bypass and head out through the fast sweepers, faster straights off the rev-limiter in 6th and flip-flop the islands just before approaching the bottom of the hill. Adrenaline pumping and a good feeling from your warm tyres you do indeed look up to the left to see the first corner climbing upwards towards the tree line at the top, swiftly overtaking the lorry you go out wide to the right to take the corner as smooth as possible. The surface is good and confidence levels are high, you stick your knee out and drop to the left, its all going great, even the slight tightening in the bend is easily catered for and youre grinning like a fool inside your helmet. Do roads get any better than this?. Then you see the road slowly start tightening towards the right, you give it a bit more throttle and then things start getting out of control. You see the bend tighten quite suddenly and the road surface get considerably worse, you try to take get down a bit further to make the corner but the tyres cant hold their own. In the split second you are flying through the air you see the scorch marks and tyre tracks on the edge of the road, the verge and the brick wall. There are bits of mirror and broken plastic scattered all around and youre sure you saw some dying flowers left on the ground. If only the entrance to the hotel/conference centre place was a few feet earlier youd have had an easy escape route, instead the ambulance is here and the police are calling youre loved ones to notfy them of youre crash, good job you had the emergaency ICE contacts in your phone eh? Then again you could make this corner, just watch the next left-hander, it sharpens up like a f**ker. Also watch all the crud on the top left by inconsiderate quarry trucks.
Fish hill is a great run, and the straights at the top are awesome, but please, please, please for the love of God do some slow runs of it first to get used to the hill. The amount of times Ive seen bikers being wheeled into the back of an ambulance up there is sickening.

This is a very nice stretch of the A44 with a good mix of most things, but it also has one very special highlight which earns it my 5-star rating - in the middle lies Fish Hill, possibly the nearest thing to knee-down heaven in the UK?

Imagine this... you see a warning sign for a left hand bend. You look ahead and left, and rising across the valley in front of you lies a long, wide, totally visible, 160 degree, shellgripped, constant-radius bend sent by the god of biking himself. You instantly KNOW you can achieve GP angles of lean on this bend, no matter what youre riding... Set your speed, lean in, hold forever... Sublime! Then another long bend back round to the right... and another up to the left... ooooh heaven :-)

Make sure you do the road from Evesham to Moreton-in-Marsh so that you take it uphill - rather more intimidating going the other way on the brakes!

Enjoy... :-)))
