A great bit of road with some great open corners but a couple of tight ones to keep your attention up. The surface is mostly good but can be a bit sketchy near farm entrances with the usual mud and debris. Visibility is great on most sections, if you keep your head up and follow the clues you can 'see' right through the corners. Also I must be one of the few people who enjoys the route more for Elsenham to Thaxted but either way you do it, it's a great fun!
great road to sharpen your skills on. there is one tight blind left 50yrds after tight right in amongst some trees which catches me out more than i care to mention(bum clenching moments)as gravel can get washed on road after heavy rain. great road but deserves respect. i agree with the author- road seems to flow better thaxted to elsenham way round seems to be better visibility.
This is perhaps my favourite route around Hertfordshire. Not long, but intense. The road itself is somewhat narrow, enhancing the feeling of speed. Surface is mostly good, although half way there is a nasty stretch to be aware of. There are some very good corners here, although need to be taken carefully, due to the lack of space. Traffic is surprisingly minimal, and there are plenty of opportunities to overtake. I like most the direction Thaxted -> Elsenham, but the opposite is also very good. Enjoy the ride!
