A nice bit of road when the weather is good, Avoid weekends as it attracts a lot of bikers which then attracts the police.
Good corners but poor road surface. Bumpy, undulating and often with gravel & mud, particularly after rain. Hazards from farm vehicles can be evident. Has some testing corners and would be a great road if resurfaced but is quite hard work as is. This road presents a genuine challenge to ride fast; not for novices but if you are up for it and have fancy suspension it can be very rewarding!
good bit of road you could add this to the finchingfield rout & either go to or from braintree to Haverhill (vica versa) if you go there then on to either bury st edmonds or to wards Cambridge either way there are some superb road over that way watch out for the local farmer not giving a toss for mud on the Road & or slow tractor
This is an unclassified road which runs between the B1053 at Wethersfield (called Hudsons Hill at the start)and the Cuckoo Hill entry to Sible Hedingham on the A1017. It has the general standard of a B-road. It consists almost entirely of bends and Z-bends of varying severity. Unless you are familiar with the road, when there is summer vegetation and you are trying to make a good pace, it becomes a mixture of chagrin because you took one too slowly and bowel-loosening terror when the pussycat turned out to be a tiger. It is a very useful bridging route between the runs around Finchingfield and the Castle Hedingham to Bulmer Tye B1058 run.
