Great roads, magical early morning scenery, first of many that day ending in the Med. Watch out for cows and their stuff!
An exciting road if youre pressing on, put it together with the Col dAspin to the west and the col du Portillon to the east and youve got an amazing run. Great area, lots of great roads, highly recommended.
Fantastic view and nice and easy (if sometimes tight) corners in a very nice area. All in all a very nice relaxed ride through pleasant surroundings.
I was so excited when I was riding this col, that I didn't stop at the top at all ;) Hope that my photos can explain why I couldn't stop. BTW photos were taken by another member of group. As I said, I couldn't stop ;)
from Bossost to Luchon de bagnerese, twists and turns an amazing little road from France to Spain, with a fantastic view half way up. The road has just been resurfaced, so its brilliant fun with a capital smile!
This is one of my favourite routes, have done it so many times now, i love it!...Hazards?...........yep, as you dodge the cow dung, you go smack into the cow!..........but they have lovely eyes! doin it again in september, beautiful, and don't forget to stop for a cold beer (just one mind) and some hot goats cheese on salade and toaste..sit back, enjoy and do it all over again! (col de port..D618 as above to St Girons - Foix)
After stocking up on fresh fruit and other supplies in the open air market we left Bageneres de Luchon after a boozy one night stay in a fabulously cheap and comfortable hotel called 'Le Panoramicâ'.It was a glorious sunny morning as we headed off for Arreau via the Col de Peyresourde. We would also be crossing the Col de Aspin later in the day but that's posted on another route here. The D618 leaves Bagneres and winds it way through some great scenery and greenery and visits a few country villages on the way as it steadily climbs to the summit at some 1569 metres. The surface was in tip-top condition on our visit and the corners had everything you needed for maximum enjoyment on a Sport Touring level. There were bends of all types but they could not detract from the beauty of the surroundings. There are far more spectacular places in the world but I'm thankfully easily pleased. I really enjoyed this route and would travel this road again should the opportunity arise. Hope you enjoy the photos
