despite the previous reviews of being dangerous lots of blind corners did this route today on a scooter despite it being limited to 58mph i found it to be quite pleasant ride some long swooping corners few blind corners and a couple of steep hill climbs despite all this the road was clear with very few cars to keep us company plus the conditions of the road was perfect for the ride would like to do it again in different conditions just to see how challenging it can be all in all a very pleasant ride out

One of my favourite roads that we travel all the way from Norfolk to ride with a stop at Melton for lunch. Rode south from Melton to Market Harbough yesterday and south of the A47 it is now a blanket 50mph limit! This is such a shame, we don't ride quickly and it is a lovely rode at around the national speed limit but boring at 50. I can only presume that there has been a number of serious RTC's caused by speed and it's much cheaper to target everyone with a speed limit than to try and deal with the irresponsible motorists that travel TFF! Boo to the road safety nazis.

on my doorstep so i get to ride it quite often, tricky section is from tilton on the hill toward melton, but theres a great long straight just before melton which certainly gives you the chance to blow the cobwebs away. great road which leads to melton, which is the start of many other great roads

Thank you for this route. Im in (Ruddington) Nottingham and took the a60 to rempstone > a6006 to melton > b6047 to Market H. I had a brilliant time. Especially like the early morning coffee at Waterfront Bar.
Big smile on my face after this one!

P.s. Watch out for the farming vehicles

My Girlfriend and I rode this route at the weekend and found it to be fantastic. Brilliant rolling road. Great mix of quick open bends and more challenging cresting corners with blind exits.
The surface is generally excellent. But be aware of horse riders and the deposits they leave. We found numerous piles of muck on the entry line on the way in to corners, so the potential to tuck the front is never far away. And try running that excuse in the pub when youve just binned your Blade.
You may have read a few negative reviews about it being an accident black spot. But. After all its a public road not Cadwell park so ride to your limits and youll always get home safe.
Enjoy!

Id say this is one of my favourite roads. Lovely mixture of fast and slow corners and a few straights you can get your speed up. Rode it for the first time the other day. Superb!!

New to this site, but this is one of my favourite routes for a Sunday afternoon out, quick coffee in Melton Mowbray and then do it all again on the way back, absolutely awesome.

Agree with comments above. Some spectacular views across the top today (was nice and sunny). Took it easy and really enjoyed it.

Ride part of this route regularly, and most of it occasionally. Lots of bends and dips, and a good number of villages, so concentration needed at all times. Once you get in the groove, its an immensely satisfying ride! Recommended.

I found this route by chance before joining this site, as I was after a good non-motorway route for a work trip to Northampton from Derbyshire. This part of the route is superb and links well to the rout to Ashby de las Zouche. Ive ridden it twice each way, and love it. Havent seen any police, but may just be lucky. Watch out for caravans. Try it, its fun!

Hi guys, Im coming in with quite a negative approach. The boyfriend came off on one of the many harsh corners, was keeping to the right hand side of the road near the white line just so he could tilt and get a good corner, car coming the other way meant he had to move over by straightnening up BIG MISTAKE, lost control and flew off. Bike an absolute write off and boyfriend walked away with a dislocated collar bone and 3 broken ribs. 2 days previous a lad died in exact same spot doing exact same thing. Please beware this is an accident hot spot. Take the corners with caution and be alert 100% at all times. Other than that, enjoy your ride and take care.

Came across this route on Saturday 2.6.27 and travelled from A47 south to Market Harborough. I had no idea where I was as I was out with a client. She chose the road well, a demanding rewarding road, especially for my Advanced training. Smooth road surface and enough hazards to keep you thinking. Nothing demanding, if you ride on what you can see. Video to follow....

Just got back from riding this routefor the first time. Did this without checking the reviews on this. Would agree with most of what's been written. Lovely rolling countryside but concentration essential - could well understand some of the accidents on this road. Best just to take your time and soak it all in ...

This route is quite a challenge and you need to do it a few times to get the hang of it. Best bit is from Melton to the A47. Gets a bit busy on Sunday , mainly other Bikers , and has a lot of traffic weekdays so I'd say early morning , late summer evenings during the week are your best bet for a clear run.All the bike activity has attracted Police attention but the seem to stick mainly to the villages , of which there are several.Seen a few accidents last year so take care.

A great road. Go on from this on the A6006 to Donnington racetrack to meet the petrolheads on a trackday. Or go to Oakham on the A606 then Uppingham on the A6003 and take the spectacular B664 'Alpine pass-like' road back to Market Harborough. An even more technically demanding road than the B6037. Put it all together as a circuit and you have a fantastic loop on which to play for over a hour.

Done recently and found the police are starting to use a mobile camera van, so BEWARE. Its one with the rotating camera on top.... Excellent road but keep clear of any sunday warriors, good on the straight scared of corners!!!

Great road,if heading from market harborough to melton the stretch after the A47 is definately the best allthough its like a roller coaster with lots of dips,so be very carefull when overtaking as visibility can be very poor at times. I did come across a speed trap in one of the many small villages you pass through on the route other than that its a great road i will definately be visiting again.

Hi every one, just to let you know that its a nice road to go down but becareful coz I had a accident on the one of the corners near tilton on the hill, Broke my shoulder in three places and a month of work. I think it was due to fuel or the road surface, Still not sure? Thiers a few lorries go down their some time to take a short cuts as well, sundays are the best times to go down here. take care steve

A great variety on this stretch with some lovely testing sections. Nice bends and rare police presence (except in the villages). The stretch after the A47 is probably the best bit with a string of fantastic bends and a very naughty left hander! Enjoy
