Came across Police bikes in pairs. Loads of cyclists, its a regular route for them. Usual country tractors and horses. Not a very rewarding ride to be honest.

Sunday 14 May 17 another sad case of a rider hitting a car., that's the fifth this year This road needs loads of respect! There is a mix of farms vehicles, cyclists, horse riders, tourists, pedestrians and wildlife all in a pretty narrow B road. The Shirenewton/Newchurch junction is dire, the road straightens near the big house on the junction, it is a 5 way with horses and slow moving vehicles, hitting the accelator seems like the right time but the visability into the junction is non existent from both ways. The locals are installing dash cams that the local police are using as procecuting evidence (especially for double white line contraventions). Overall great road but the possibility of injury or procecution dampens it somewhat.

We and many others live close to this road. Please be considerate of others when using it, there are some dangerous blind exits and the shape of the valleys means the constant noise of passing bikes carries into peopleĀ“s homes and gardens and ruins lives. If you have to ride it please do so quietly and carefully. Monmouthshire council, the highways agency and the police are currently consulting on measures to cut bike usage on the road including speed restrictions and cameras, so bike use continues in its current vein it could well be ruined completely. I know not all riders are idiots. Just please think about those who lives are made worse are by the noise and risk of bikers treating these roads like racetracks for non-essential pleasure rides.

I was lucky enough to hit this when it was quiet... Poetry in tarmac. Cannot recommend it enough. Did it from the Usk end and there is only one tightening double apex left hander that can catch you out in the forest section but otherwise, this road is a must. Taps into a few other routes @Chepstow, an utter gem. really made me think twice about leaving Wales...

This is my local road and great fun, I usually ride this Monmouth-Usk road-Chepstow-Tintern Abbey-Monmouth as my daily route. As I prefer it this way round. There are better roads further North but this is a road is a bit of a gem for South Wales I think so far. Not too much traffic if you avoid rush-hour period and riding it on a Good dry day is rewarding. Stop off at Tintern Abbey for a drink and break as most motorcyclist stop there and park around the mini roundabout, parking on double yellows seems to be overlooked here. Enjoy :)

It's a good flowing road, just watch out for one blind double apex right hander near the start. Narrow lanes mean wider vehicles or idiots straddle the centre line.

Did this road in the summer. Very pleasant, but the weather wasn great and we must have picked a bad day as there was a lot of slow moving traffic in the way. Would like to do again in the dry as I think the experience would have been much better.

Rode this route in December 2005 - good introduction to a days riding. extend this route by joining other routes from Abergavveny going further into Wales.

One of my favourite stretches of road - great in a car, even better on a bike.
