This is now my favourite road, it has everything! Straights, hills and dips, corners galore, gravel, dung, suicidal sheep and murderous white van drivers and it just goes on and on and on. The road really is fantastic; at the east end some tight swinging bends with enough straights to gain speed and overtake any tin boxes - watch for the left hander just out of Richmond which just goes on forever! Above Reeth the road narrows with lots of twisty corners and dips/bumps, take care or youll find the bike going up the next one while your kn***ers are still coming down from the one before! Then you rise up onto the moor with some great tight flowing corners but good visibility. The route ends with an exilerating 14% drop down into Nateby. To top it all not too much traffic and among some of the best scenery you could wish to see. Just amazing.
love this road spectacular views over the lake district and north yorkshire, single track road out of the way of the regular speed bandits so no police about ,not as though you can go fast enough to speed.must complete in both directions for the best ride ,breathtaking
Very, very fun. But only if you like a challenge. The route is very narrow for long stretches, has many many quick corners, and can even be a bit bumpy at times. Still, I loved it. Probably mostly suited to the Adventure-bike crowd. Definitely not for the R-bikes who just want to go fast.
Another Dales run, that can be joined to the Hawes - Thwaite run that I just entered :-) Lots of tight and quite technical curves through the Dales. I liked it on a big trallie. Care should be taken for oncoming cars on the narrow sections, especially round Thwaite where I understand there have been a few bike/car collisions. Be safe.
You dont want to meet this around a blind corner. Nowhere to escape.
Close to West Stonesdale
At the west end of the route, on top of a 14% drop down to Nateby!
